Gordon Jaaback places strong emphasis on sound and practical drainage in designing grassed sporting surfaces. He worked as a contractor for 20 years prior to commencing his consultancy practice and is well experienced in the scope and limitations of contract work. This has given him a sound platform in the field of constructing and maintaining grassed sporting surfaces.
He has intimate knowledge of establishing grasses on all types of terrain surfaces and with his background in soil science he has made an in-depth study of soil:water relationships in drainage design. He is a pioneer in the furthering of cambered sports pitches and the incorporation of shallow mowable swales as a means of attenuating surface water run-off.
He is a qualified agronomist holding a B Sc (agric) degree and as a member of RIPTA (Register of Professional Independent Turfgrass Agronomists), the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and the Institute of Professional Soil Scientists he is well qualified in his role as a sports pitch consultant and expert witness. He has worked on Sports England, Football Foundation and Rugby Union projects.
