The owners of a considerably sloping property in Lamberhurst, Kent, Mr and Mrs N Beart, wished to develop a grassed tennis court.
A feasibility study was undertaken and following extensive earthworks a plateau was developed for the construction of the court.
The indigenous clay loam topsoil was found to be successful for use without the need to import the specialised soil normally required. Swales have been incorporated to prevent surface water entering the court area.
After being unable to complete the development in the autumn of 2016 on account of the weather the grassed surface, fixtures and netting were finally ready for use in the early summer of 2017.
