Assessment of an existing golf course for conversion to rugby pitches
This extensive project involved the assessment of an existing golf course for conversion to rugby pitches. Located on a landfill site there were restrictions in the depth of excavation and the despatch of drainage water.
The requirement was to incorporate two main sand pitches, a senior grass pitch, a synthetic grass training pitch and twelve further junior grassed pitches. Besides the need to import drainage materials there would be a need to import selected sand and topsoil in large quantity.
To overcome the restrictions the pitches were to be cambered with an extensive swale reticulation and attenuation provisions. Estimations were prepared for the development.
The study was prepared for a developer who was unsuccessful in the execution of the project.
