The proposed development incorporated a synthetic turf hockey pitch and a cricket oval to be located in a flood plain adjacent the River Cray. The soil survey revealed a high water table.
There were constraints enforced by the Environment Agency and ecological surveys were required.
A ditch reticulation was planned to cope with surface water and it was proposed that the cricket square would be constructed on a camber with fall in slope away from the square on both sides.
With the construction of the permeable synthetic grass hockey pitch there would be need to construct a shallow attenuation pond to control the surface water removed.
