The training grounds in Carrington, Manchester were designed and constructed by John Souter Sportsturf. The site to be developed was low lying and very wet. Early after completion there were apparent failures in the drainage as well as allegations into the specifications employed.
Restrictions in drainage outfall were a problem from the start and were not resolved by the club. With an adequate ditch reticulation surplus water was removed from the pitches but there was an accumulation in the lower part of the site and this development eventually threatened the main pitch.
In preparing an expert witness statement for the contractor (defendant) a detailed investigation was undertaken into the drainage of the site together with the method and quality of construction.
Prior to court proceedings a joint report was also prepared with the claimant’s expert witness.
