Hockey
Hockey is now played increasingly on synthetic grass surfaces though still to a limited extent on grassed pitches at schools. The exacting levels required for safety make the level of management on grassed surfaces a main concern. Topdressing and levelling out are continuous exercises in addition to the drainage requirements. Synthetic grass pitches also require planned maintenance to protect the carpet pile and with heavy use the monitoring of edges, fences and isolated surface failures is vital.
