My work as a football pitch consultant takes me throughout the UK, providing consultancy on the drainage and playing surface of existing football pitches and more often, project managing the whole construction of new football pitches so that the end result creates perfect playing conditions.

A good pitch has an even, slick and dense grass cover comprising a solid stand of ryegrass cut to a height of 30 to 50mm. Good drainage is vital for continual use in the winter and the season is long. In order to sustain a sound playing surface through to May a sound maintenance budget is a pre-requisite and an intensive renovation programme at this time is normally essential
