Drainage
The Gateway Community College, Tilbury, Essex
A Feasibility Study was completed on this 12ha floodplain site. A total of nine football, rugby and cricket grassed pitches and two all-weather facilities were constructed. Pitches were cambered to a gradient of 1:70 and swaled storage trenches and an enclosing ditch reticulation was incorporated. The heavy clay loam topsoil was ameliorated with sand and both primary and secondary drainage was undertaken before seeding.
Vibrating tines treatment between slit drains and
ameliorating sand into the surface clay loam soil.
