Gordon Jaaback is an international turfgrass agronomist and has consulted in land reclamation and the turfgrass industry since 1967 after attaining a B.Sc.(Agric.) degree in agronomy at the University of Natal. He managed his own reclamation, sportsfield and golf course construction company in South Africa for 18 years, during which time his company played a major role in reclamation programmes and pioneered techniques in grass establishment. He has published a number of papers and moved to the UK at the end of 1986 to develop his professional practice.

Working with local authorities, developers and private clubs he has implemented the construction of new football, cricket and rugby pitches. He has consulted with golf clubs and has undertaken projects in Portugal, Cyprus and Spain. As a Law Society expert witness he has completed numerous investigations on pitches including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United Football Club grounds. He has written a number of scientific papers published internationally and has completed short-term lecture assignments at Merrist Wood and Hadlow Colleges.
