Learn from the first rain

Recent heavy rain should highlight wet areas and especially places that collect surface water from surrounding ground.

Now, before the rainy season sets in it is prudent to check where surface water can be checked and diverted if possible.  Making sure that pitches only have to cope with the rainfall they receive solves more than half the problems.

Incorporating a ditch reticulation and/or surface water swales are cost-effective means of containing and discharging surface water away from playing areas.
