Check nitrogen levels on ryegrass sports pitches

At this time of year after a relatively dry summer, red thread fungus disease is very prevalent on ryegrass dominant sports pitches. Grass cover lacking nitrogen is readily infested with the disease and applications of nitrogen dominant fertilizer are now essential to grow out the disease.  There are still at least two months of actively growing weather and pitches need all the nutrition and vigor possible to get them through a heavy playing season.
