If renovation incorporating over-seeding is planned it becomes logical to apply fertiliser to the benefit of the newly seeded species and not the remaining annual meadow grass. Once the pitch is scarified/fraise mown nutrition is best given only once the ryegrass is well germinated. In view of changing weather conditions – especially if irrigation is not available – the application of pelleted control formulations of fertiliser are also worth considering. Nutrient release is only available when moisture and temperature are suitable and the 3 to 5 month activity ensures continuous nutrition and avoids return treatments in 4 to 6 weeks – or less if liquid formulations are applied.
